PERINE Quarterly Report: September - December 2003

Short overwiew on the project’s development on national level

  • Websites of national institutions in the field of educational research have been selected, described, indexed and introduced into the database
  • Participation in the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) in Hamburg, September 2003. Preparation of a paper session on the use of the new PERINE database and its possibilities with special focus on Lifelong Learning which was chosen by researchers after the ECER-conference in Lisbon as one of the main points of interest.
  • Translation of the English version of the PERINE card (produced by the British PERINE unit and presented at the ECER conference in Hamburg) in German and printing of 1500 copies for dissemination to education experts and administrators in Austria as well as to the Austrian research community. These cards shall spread information on the availability of the PERINE - database and the sort of information to be found there. In a first run about 700 PERINE cards will be distributed together with the document on educational research in Austria 2002 in January 2004.

National and European activities

  • Organiszing a one-day seminar for the Austrian-ARION participants in the programme 2003/2004 in October 2003
  • Preparation of the organization of 6 ARION seminars on educational topics in Austria in 2004.
  • Contribution to and dissemination of products of the European education information network EURYDICE: Key data on education in Europe 2002, Key topics (volume 3 ) on the Teaching Profession in Europe (Conditions of work and salaries); Glossary 4 on "Management, Monitoring and Support Staff", finalization of "Focus on the Structure of Higher Education in Europe (2003/04) - National Trends in the Bologna Process". Work in progress of EURYDICE - studies on children of immigrants, evaluation education, update of Glossary 1 on "Examinations, Qualifications and Titles".
  • Participation in the annual EURYDICE - meeting of heads of units in Brussels concerning the working programme 2004
  • Correction and editing of 200 abstracts on educational research in Austria in 2002; input in the database and preparation of the printed version.
